This page lists the clays, clay powders and clay casting slips that we usually stock at the Doncaster and Exeter branches. WE ONLY STOCK VALENTINE AND EARTHSTONE.
Some of these we bring in large quantities, some we only have a few bags in stock.
These prices would need delivery to be added (if not collected) and VAT to be added.
We regularly bring in mixed pallets in to stock, so if there is something from the Valentine and Earthstone ranges of clays that you want - we can bring it in for you with notice.
Stock clays can be despatched to you by courier or by pallet, along with other items.

Paper Clay - finely chopped fibres of flax and cellulose produce very forgiving clay bodies offering potters a wide range of making options.

They are strong,yet flexible lightweight clays with virtually no mould growth in comparison to other makes.

Greenware re-wets easily allowing re-work, altering and adding new clay at any stage of dryness. Greenware even bone dry is unbelievably strong and easy to handle and transport. Suitable for raku, oxidation, reduction, salt and soda.

Air Drying Clay - unrivalled strength & plasticity, super fine particles, can be decorated with acrylic paints and a clear varnish. Can be fired for extra strength.

Schwartz Grey to Black Fine Clay

Pale Grey at 1000oC,moving to darker grey at 1150oC, then black from 1240oC.

Contains fine 0-0.2mm grog so most suited to throwing and modelling. Expansion of 0.310-0.325% at 500oC so similar to St Patricks White.

Fully vitrifies between cone 6-7 1220-1240oC

The clays can be fired within the temperature ranges shown but may need to be at the higher end for maturity - for example the B17C stoneware fires 1120-1280oC, but vitrifies from 1220oC and the E/S 5 vitrifies at 1180oC, the Sven Bayer Crank at 1240oC. If using stonewware as decorative ware at the 1120oC glaze firing temp you would high fire the bsique temperature at 1100oC just as you do for earthenware clays.
